Capitalism is an economic system. If you think that it’s a political system, it’s probably because the U.S. is both a capitalist and a democratic country. Or maybe it’s because of the free enterprise aspect of capitalism. Regardless, capitalism is intertwined in our political system. Every law we make is influenced by our economic system. And it makes that legislating process very complicated.
Capitalists rarely have to defend their position in this country as it’s such the status quo. But the country is starting to call out for more citizen dialog about the concentration of wealth, money in politics, a need for a UBI, corporate monopolies, understanding of our monetary system, tax inequality, and more. The libertarians, progressives, and capitalists should all want to explain their vision for the future of our economic system. This is what the Decision Website is all about.
The vast majority of countries that have tried communism ended up with heavy authoritarian control. Authoritarian control is the opposite of what we are seeking. But for clarity’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water.
Communism was never intended to have dictatorial leadership. That’s why communist countries use contradictory terms like, “The People’s Republic”. Communists felt they needed strong control to orchestrate the change from capitalism to their fully socialist economy. What a mistake to trust individuals or groups with that kind of power. Human history is riddled with people unable to handle power, and especially unable to relinquish that control.
The term “communism” is still circulating around. But when you hear it, think economics instead of politics. Communism without solid democracy is just not an option.
That said, why wouldn’t proponents of communism welcome the Decision Website. First, it’s a pathway towards a strong democracy which is needed to implement a communist economic system. Second, the Decision Website is a model for allowing workers to have a real voice in the workplace. Third, it provides a platform for explaining your ideas to the public. Fourth, it provides the nation a method of challenging your ideas, pressuring you to answer those objections and concerns.

Ask a conservative for their most important political ideal. If it’s not “freedom”, then it is either a similar term like “democracy”, or they will change their mind when you suggest freedom. It’s the core.
Maybe it’s time to spend more effort on improving our democratic process via a constitutional change. You wouldn’t want to try that now without first putting citizen’s in control via the Decision Website. If you were to have a constitutional convention now, it would be the politicians that are determining those changes. Politicians in power are biased and would only seek changes that benefit themselves or their party. Wait until the people have created a strong voice.
Maybe you don’t want to risk making any changes to the constitution. Just know that the way politics operates now in Washington, is the way it will continue. It’s a money game and a power game with a perpetual back and forth control by the Republicans and Democrats, characterized with partisan stone-walling, bickering, and finger pointing. There are only two logical active choices to make. Either fix the problem and give citizens more control, or relax and quietly accept our current system. Just know that a choice is being made.
“Far Left” is such a broad term that it’s unclear what to toss in. Green Party, progressives, anarchists, social democrats, socialists, communists, oh my. Third party ideas in the U.S.’s have had such little exposure. People might recognize the name, but have little more than a knee-jerk reaction to apply to its definition. The point is that folks in the U.S. are thinking. They are looking at the problems and conceiving ways to improve our situation.
But they haven’t asked you and me what we think. They haven’t been challenged to consider our perspectives or address our concerns. Everyone is in their own little corner designing their solution. It’s pretty certain that if we do all come together to debate the myriad of ideas, then the result will be something altogether original and innovative. But it can only happen if we use inclusive debate techniques as in the Decision Website.
The far right believes that there’s something wrong with the country. They sense that the government might be out of control and so democracy could be in danger. The truth of the matter remains murky and secretive. And so the winds of speculation swirl and drive their thinking across the landscape.
As it is, the secrecy in the world will not go away, but maybe with all of us sharing what we know, progress can be made. The far right are definitely pro-freedom and pro-democracy. So why not work on that aspect using the Decision Website and get this country on the path to real control by the people. Only then can we root out hidden agendas and determine what’s really happening in our country.

Liberals are usually nice people. They can be a bit judgmental, but they care about folks. They’d like to see some changes like more gun control. If we were to legislate a ban on assault rifles, the liberals would feel content. If we reduce college tuition, their easy chair tilts back. Sorry, a tongue-in-cheek characterization.
But it highlights a problem. The center, both Liberals and Conservatives, are easy to please. Usually their lives are stable, because people displeased with the way society is working will drift farther left or right. So the center will rarely risk rocking the boat.
During our 1776 revolution, the majority of colonists did not actively participate. If you are interested in history, you likely know that our revolution was perpetually precariously close to failure, and it is a wonder that we succeeded. I suspect that most people in the center, Democrats and Republicans, imagine that they would have been active patriots in our huge step forward from monarchy to democracy. Right now may be a similar time in history. And it has that same element of choice of whether to sit back or to act.
It is a simple, non-threatening step to create the Decision Website, thereby letting us discuss our issues. And yet it needs your support to become a true citizen’s voice.

Libertarians want a smaller less intrusive government. A caveat… In Europe, Libertarianism has a different history and ideology. There it is closer to the Anarchist and often socialist approach.
This idea of “smaller government” might seem familiar. It is a general Republican ideology, and so, Libertarians are usually on the right. Republicans want a smaller government to save money, to produce fewer regulations, and to limit government’s incursion into personal lives. Libertarians simply take the idea further so as to keep the government out of commerce, stay out of individuals’ freedoms whenever possible, and they prefer the government stay out of global affairs.
Libertarians should support the Decision Website. They like the idea of the people’s voice. And they should welcome a platform to discuss their ideas.

Progressives have to be careful. So many of the changes they want to occur require the government to be the main player. Many changes result in more rules, regulations, and federal control. Other proposals tend to make people more monetarily dependent on the government. The right will resist because they do not trust more government power. So first tackling the holes in our democracy makes sense for Progressives.
So much of the progressive agenda involves substantial funding, which butts heads with business and the monetary system. Since congresspersons are entangled with campaign donors, how much progress can they expect?
By making constitutional changes and giving citizens a voice, we alter the entire dynamic of government. With the Decision Website, we shift the trust factor in government in a positive direction. Additionally, it is a platform for Progressives to share their vision, and so they should welcome the concept of the Decision Website.
